How to Prepare for your Facial

5 days before your treatment:
-
Make sure it has been at least 5 days since any face waxing to avoid irritation.
-
Wear an SPF 30+ daily and avoid over-exposure to the sun.

2 days before your treatment:
-
Stop all exfoliation products at home. This includes any: Retinol, AHA's (Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Mandelic Acid) BHA's (Salicylic Acid), and Facial Polishes or Scrubs. Discontinuing at-home treatment will allow for the maximum results when you go in for your spa service.

Night Before your facial:
-
Please shave the night before your facial to avoid irritation.
Day of Facial:
-
Stay hydrated and drink plenty of fluids before your Facial. Drinking water will keep your skin hydrated, which is essential for healthy skin.
-
Please arrive early to allow time to use the restroom before your appointment time.
-
Feel free to apply skincare products, makeup, and sun block. Your skin care specialist will remove these for you to prepare your skin for the facial.
-
Arrive for your appointment in a relaxed state of mind.
How to Care for your Skin after a Facial
Day of Facial: First few hours – you may notice slight erythema (redness)
-
Avoid touching the treated area. Your freshly exfoliated skin may feel silky smooth, but may be more prone to acne from touching with unwashed hands. Also take care to avoid having a pet rub up against your exfoliated skin.
-
Stay out of direct sunlight. Your skin care professional has applied SPF to your face during your treatment.
-
Makeup is okay to apply to your face.
-
Avoid any active ingredients such as: Retinol, AHA's (Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Mandelic Acid) BHA's (Salicylic Acid), and Facial Polishes or Scrubs.
-
Cleanse Gently: Cleanse your skin with warm water and Face Reality Gentle Cleanser -or- Truth Treatments Hyaluronic Honey Cleanser. Pat skin dry with a clean towel.

2 days after Exfoliating Facial:
-
You may re-introduce products such as: Retinol, AHA's (Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Mandelic Acid) BHA's (Salicylic Acid), and Facial Polishes or Scrubs. It is best to perform a test patch on your cheek first to see if there is any irritation before applying all over skin.
-
Keep skin hydrated and moisturized.
-
Apply sunscreen of SPF30+ daily, but take care to avoid direct sun exposure.

One Treatment is Great, but Multiple Exfoliating Facials Deliver Maximum Results!
Most patients should receive a Facial about once a month. This is the ideal time frame because our skin cell turnover cycle is 28 days long. Your skin is doing different things depending on the season and depending on your lifestyle and having a monthly check-in with a professional ensures you are getting the best results. In some cases, more or less frequent visits may be recommended based on a person's specific needs.
